Kayanza Coffee
Kayanza province, on the Congo-Nile crest near the Rwandan border, concentrates Burundi's highest farms and most celebrated washing stations. Hundreds of thousands of micro-plot farmers — often a few dozen trees per family — deliver Bourbon cherry of remarkable density.
Since liberalization in the 2010s, private and cooperative stations in Kayanza have dominated Burundi's Cup of Excellence, translating the province's altitude into cups that combine Rwandan elegance with an extra dose of syrupy fruit sweetness.

Kayanza — frequently asked questions
How small are Burundian coffee farms?
Typically well under half a hectare — coffee is a garden crop among food plots, which is why washing stations, aggregating thousands of families, are the quality unit.
What distinguishes Kayanza from Rwandan coffee?
Same Bourbon-washed tradition, but Kayanza's cups often carry deeper berry sweetness and syrup — a touch more weight beneath the florals.
Volcana Coffee grows and exports specialty Arabica and Fine Robusta from our own region — the Bolaven Plateau in Laos — with SGS-inspected quality and full export documentation. Taste how our volcanic terroir compares.
