Đắk Lắk Coffee
Đắk Lắk province, centered on Buôn Ma Thuột — Vietnam's self-styled coffee capital — anchors the Central Highlands basalt plateau where most of the world's Robusta grows. Hundreds of thousands of smallholder families farm intensively managed plots, sun-drying cherry on household patios.
The province's scale and efficiency set the global Robusta price. A growing quality movement — better picking, washed and honey processing, Fine Robusta certification — is building a premium layer atop the commodity engine, with Buôn Ma Thuột hosting Vietnam's flagship coffee festival and research institutions.

Đắk Lắk — frequently asked questions
Why is Đắk Lắk so productive?
Deep basalt soils, reliable wet-season rainfall, intensive smallholder management, and high-yielding clonal Robusta — Vietnamese farms achieve roughly double the per-hectare yields of most producing countries.
Is Đắk Lắk coffee only commodity grade?
Volume-wise yes, but a fast-growing fine Robusta segment — ripe picking, controlled fermentation, honey and washed lots — is winning international recognition.
Volcana Coffee grows and exports specialty Arabica and Fine Robusta from our own region — the Bolaven Plateau in Laos — with SGS-inspected quality and full export documentation. Taste how our volcanic terroir compares.
