Murang'a Coffee
Murang'a county lies on the eastern foothills of the Aberdare range, historic heartland of Kikuyu smallholder coffee. Its long-established cooperative societies process SL-variety cherry from old volcanic soils, producing cups with a characteristically deep, dark-fruited register.
Long overshadowed at auction by Nyeri, Murang'a has re-emerged as factory renovations and cherry-payment reforms lift quality; its best lots now compete at the top while retaining a distinct, winey personality.
